ALGOP: We Still Hold These Truths

Dear Friend,

I don’t know that enough can be said about the enormous, positive impact the Tea Party movement has had on local, state and national elections over the last couple of years. In our own state, the activism of these passionate patriots helped make the ‘Campaign 2010’ political plan put in place by the Alabama Republican Party a resounding success, ending the 136 years of Democratic rule in Montgomery.

Tea Party groups embody the spirit of the early American colonists who fought to end tyranny imposed upon them by Britain. They are working to elect office-holders who will uphold the Constitution and honor the limited-government principles our Founding Fathers intended the federal government to follow. Because of their efforts, we have several strong leaders fighting for liberty in Washington, D.C., and among these is the keynote speaker for our upcoming ‘Patriots Dinner’ in Montgomery, U. S. Representative Allen West (R-Florida).

Congressman Allen West was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia and is the third of four generations of military servicemen in his family. His parents instilled in him a very basic principle, love of God and country.

In 2004, upon retiring after 22 years of service in the United States Army, he moved to Florida before returning to Afghanistan as a civilian military adviser to the Afghan army, an assignment he finished in November 2007.

In November of 2010, Col. West was honored to be able to continue his oath of service to his country when he was elected as a U. S. Representative in the United States Congress. Like many other Republicans that year, his election efforts were bolstered by a strong and vibrant Tea Party movement in Florida. Once elected, Col. West quickly joined the Congressional Tea Party Caucus which had been founded by Congresswoman Michele Bachmann (R-MN) the summer before. He was also the first black Republican Congressman to be elected from Florida since 1876!

Col. West’s no-nonsense, straight-shooting style of talking has put him in high demand as a speaker for conservative groups across the nation. This year, he was a featured speaker at the Conservative Political Action Conference in DC, where he reiterated the truth that our Founding Fathers believed that the rights of all Americans include life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

Faithful Republicans, conservative activists and Tea Party members from across the state will join us at our Summer ‘Patriots Dinner’ on Friday, June 22nd at the Renaissance Hotel in Montgomery to hear Col. Allen West as he shares his insights about the dangerous ‘big-government’ path our nation is treading upon and why the election in November will be the most vital in the history of our nation. Col. West knows that it essential that we make sure that Barack Obama is a one-term President so I encourage all Alabamians who value liberty to come be a part of this special night. I am confident that Col. West will play an important role in defeating Barack Obama in November from whatever position he will hold at that time (some speculate that he is a potential Vice Presidential running mate for Gov. Romney).
