REMINDER: Bring Your Questions to the Next MCRC Meeting

This month's Montgomery County Republican Club will feature a legislative update from Senator Dick Brewbaker and Representative Jay Love.  Bring your questions for them!  There are a number of issues still begin considered, and your questions will show them (and the rest of the legislature) that you are interested in what is going on during this session.  We simply ask that attendees limit their questions to issues still under consideration.  A number of bills have already passed or have been dropped, and it is too late in the session to raise new issues.

For information about current and pending legislation, the Legislature's ALISON system can be challenging to use, but you can also find updates here and here.

The meeting will be held Monday, March 19th at 6:45 p.m. at the Faulkner University Dining Hall. Dinner costs $7.50.

Questioning Key Air Force Leaders on Changes to Force Structure:

During ongoing military budget debates last week, the House Armed Services Committee (HASC) held a hearing discussing the Fiscal Year 2013 National Defense Authorization Budget Request from the Department of the Air Force. Asa member of the House Armed Services Committee, I questioned Secretary of the Air Force Michael B. Donley and USAF Chief of Staff General Norton A. Schwartz about proposed reductions to the Air Force in the Department of Defense’s Fiscal Year 2013 budget proposal.

To get a better understanding of the decisions behind the proposed force reductions, I led an Alabama Congressional delegation letter requesting a meeting with Air Force Secretary Donley and Gen. Schwartz.
